The Windows 10 October Update, version 1809, is now available for Windows 10 users. This is a feature update with improved tools for Windows function, look and feel. Some key features included are Dark Mode for File Explorer, fewer restarts prompted by Windows updates and an improved shortcut for taking screenshots. Along with many new features and improvements, Windows 10 1809 is bringing adjustments to Windows Search and Edge. Windows security has also received a design overhaul. Overall the update adds some quality of life changes to Windows 10.
If you aren’t a manual download kind of a person, simply head over to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update to check if Windows 10 1809 is available for your PC. Otherwise, the update will automatically download and install on the next update check. For those whose PCs are pending restarts to install the 1809 update, we ask that they please restart the machine when you can give the computer at least 30-45 minutes to install the update after reboot. The time it takes depends on your PC quickness.
